How To Make a Simple Clay Base for Your Sculptures.

This simple clay base is made from clay scraps and ground up in my $5.00 food chopper!

A food chopper is a handy asset to have in your tool inventory. This one I found at the Goodwill store, still in the box. You really need to prowl around in Thrift stores. Amazing what you can find.

This wonderful idea is from +Maureen Carlson's book How to Make Clay Characters. I bought mine from Amazon. You'll find that Amazon has the best prices of craft books. Look for my reviews on her books in the near future. I have three and love them all.

Maureen  chopped her clay finer and made a beautiful, neat base. Neat is not in my vocabulary so mine is chopped more like pebbles. Take a small amout out of the chopper and start pressing it together. Keep adding until you get it the size and shape you want.

Press your sculpture gently, or to make it even sturdier, add a small wire in the bottom of sculpture and then press it into the base. Bake as you normally do.

To see some of my bases go to Creation In Clay.

Introducing!!!! The One an Only - "Worry Worm"

Here they are!

These little guys will help you worry! Small worries? No problem, they will take care of it for you. Big worries? Well, they will help, but you will have to do some of the worrying. They can't do it all!!
If you will notice, they also have a wart on their chins, so officially they are Worry Wart Worms!
I will have these available on http://creation-in-clay.artfire.com  hopefully by tomorrow.
Have a Happy Day,
Barb

OOPS! I Got My Hands Slapped.

I am not sure I should be flattered or ashamed!

A few days ago, Artfire notified me that the company that represents the angry birds sent a letter to them stating that they were registering an "intellectual property infringement complaint" against my angry bird magnets! And Artfire removed the three items from my shop before notifying me.

Was I ignorant? Not entirely. I knew about copyright infringement and I did not check this out concerning the angry birds. But, if you will search on Artfire, Etsy, Fiverr or any other sites for angry birds, you will see tons of them. Many are handmade in different mediums.

So should I be flattered that mine were so realistic that my three were a threat to this big company?
Maybe so............

Have a Happy Day,
Barb

A New Must Have..Know what he/she is?

Shopping for gifts and the Holidays are now behind us. It is time to take a deep breath and start the New Year.

Do you remember the Pet Rock? It was a silly thing, but something everyone had to have. I have designed a silly thing that I hope everyone will have to have.

Stay tuned. I am in the process of making a bunch now. As soon as they are ready, I will post pictures and all to this blog.

Ok, Here is his/her back! Can you guess?

Enjoy your day and hope it is not to cold wherever you are,
Barb
