New Pictures of Tillandsia in Stages of Blush

It has been two weeks since I took pictures of these two plants. Have a look, can you see the changes in the blush.

Well, I don't know! When I looked at them today they looked like they were getting redder. It is hard getting pictures showing the changes. What do you think?

 

 

Part 2 on using Air Plants to decorate your reception tables and to give your guests, a thank you for coming, gift.

This shows how to loosely wrap wire. you can use florist wire or jewelry wire.

Since Air plants  do not have stems, you will have to make them.        

Add a stem. This one is a dowel rod cut to length.

Simple look with Air Plant wired to a stiff florist wire.

                                                    

         
Fill the vase with pretty pebbles. These came from Walmart, but I have since found them much cheaper at Dollar Tree. 

Use a variety of Air Plants to increase the pizzazz

Raffia looks really nice.

Use a spray of silk flowers or real if you prefer.

A simple look with ribbon to match your colors.

For an informal look - jars of all shapes and sizes.

New Idea for Your Wedding Reception

Picture these bottles and vases with beautiful green Air Plants. Since air plants do not have stems, you will need to add them. This is easily done with florist picks or wire. Then each guest will be able to take home a beautiful and unusual reminder of your special day.

Don't have all the bottles and jars? Find them at flea markets and stores. My favorite store is Dollar Tree where you won't spend over a dollar for each vase.

What Tillandsia Book Would You Recomend?

 

I have been looking for books on Tillandsia, I did not find much. On Amazon, I found a new book that looks promising for $25.00list. Unfortunately, it doesn't come out until October.

 Paul Isley, the top expert in Tillandsia, has a beautiful book that sells for $82.00. If you have only one or maybe a few Tillandsia, you may not want to pay that much for a book


 Jody James has written a small digital book named Air Plants Care and Design. I bought this book when I first decided I wanted to learn more about Air Plants. It is a Kindle Digital book and sells for 2.99. Good price, but it just touches on general care, and designs. Does have some nice pictures.



I am looking for ideas on what you would like to see in a book. Are you new to Air Plants? A hobbyist? Or an expert? What book(s) would you recommend?

Enjoying Green in a Cold, Brown Winter

  In the middle of a very cold, brown winter, I always have cheery green in my house.
  Tillandsia/Air Plants always are green. Inside your house never needs to look like the dreary outside. Of course if you live in sunny California or Florida, I am green with envy!

  These pictures are of a beautiful Air Plant that has just finished blooming. These pictures are of it in bloom. What is nicer than a plant in bloom in the middle of winter? I have mounted this streptophylla x brachycaulos on a light piece of cork bark.

 

Meanwhile I am knitting away on my looms. I so want to help Veterans get a companion dog from Pets for Vets. So far I have made 3 hats and 1 scarf. Soon they will be on my Artfire studio. When you buy one, the proceeds will be donated to this wonderful cause. All monies except for the fees Paypal charges and the postage will go to Pets for Vets.
