Sculpting Wildflowers with Polymer Clay
While walking the dogs this morning, I noticed the shape and color of Dandelions. Have you ever looked at them as a beautiful wildflower instead of a pesky weed?
They are a vibrant and bright yellow, with tiny, thin petals in a beautiful, balanced design.
Whether you are doing fairies, fairy houses, containers, or just about anything you are sculpting, you need a prop stash. Flowers and leaves are a must.
Instead of the usual roses and daisies, take a walk with your camera and take pictures of the wild flowers in bloom. Study their color and shape then sculpt then for future use. Be sure to make them from small to large.
As I find them in bloom, I will post the pictures here. Copy them for your use. Lucky you,if you are in Texas. I wish I had thought of this when I lived there. Texas is loaded with beautiful wildflowers of all descriptions. Wherever you live, I am sure you have many that are not found in Okla. If you can, share them with all of us. Just copy and paste them to the comment section below.
Enjoy your day, wherever you are:

Beautiful and Fun Uses for Polymer Clay
I have added several new pictures to my pinterest boards. You definitely need to check the board - Clay Being Useful. http://pinterest.com/Barbo1839/clay-being-useful
While you are visiting, see lots of new Fairy houses. http://pinterest.com/Barbo1839/welcome-fairies-only
You can also add your own pictures to these boards.
I am working on a new venture or business for me. It does involve polymer clay on jars, bottles, etc. Looking to sell them at a flea market here in Tulsa. this flea market does not have junk! Or not much anyway. Lots of antiques and craft items. Really it is more like a one day a week craft show. My husband and I used to set up there every Sat. when I was making skin care products for people and dogs. This was about 8 or 9 years ago. I went and visited yesterday and it is a lot better than it was back then. Lots of junk mixed in with the antiques. I was so pleased to see how clean and busy it was yesterday. I was struck by the people leaving with hands full!. Pretty well made up my mind for me to start going there again. But first, got to build up more inventory.....
Have a good day,

Save Those Bottles And Jars to Make the Cutest New Stuff

Are you getting any ideas? Go to my Pinterest Boards and find a lot more ideas. All of these are useful. Pinterest Then, go to my boards and click on "Clay Being Useful" Be sure to look at my other boards, especially the ones concerning clay. If you like what you see, follow me or the boards that you have an interest.
If I was at a craft show, I would buy these. Maybe it is because I can justify the money spent, because they are items that can be used.
You need to save your bottles and jars. You never know when an inspiration will inspire you create. Dollar stores and thrift stores are an artist friend. I picked up some beautiful wine glasses at Dollar Tree. An idea has not hit me yet, but it will and when it does I will be sure to share with all of you.
Enjoy your day. It is beautiful here in Tulsa.

Artfire Collection and How My Came To Be
I love it when I am chosen to be in someones Artfire collection. It is this kind of compliment that helps me to keep trying harder. To view all of this collection and this artist go to: KaelMijoy
The tea light votive or trinket dish is mine.
This was developed from this paper flower I found. Thinking this would make a pretty addition to backgrounds for my clay figures, I started to sculp this. This grew into a "why not let a small fairy sit in the center" to this would make a great little ring dish or a tea light.
You never know what can evolve from a hunk of clay.

Sorry the pictures are so large. For some reason I cannot get them to go smaller. To visit my Artfire studio and these clay flower dishes go to: Creation-In-Clay

In sculpting fairies or any figure, you do need to do a little homework
Oh Wow! My part time job to help pay for my craft fix, turned into working 10 hours a day for the last 7 days! Love the money but not the hours. Off today, so writing this with little time.
In sculpting fairies or any figure, you do need to do a little homework. This is definitely something I am not fond of doing. I googled - "Google Images" then "womens faces". A great site for ideas.
This reminds me of a wonderful shop and lady that I met years ago. Long before I got into polymer clay. Unfortunately, I do not remember her name, but she does live in Tulsa and was so kind as to give me a tour of her studio.
Her studio was the entire double-car garage. This lady made beautiful, collectable
Santa Clauses. Each one was numbered and only made for that Christmas year. Her Santas were large, about the size of a toddler.
What I remember most, was pictured on every spare inch of wall were pictures of faces. These were from magazines, cards, newspapers, etc. All depicted men with various wrinkles, smiles, eyes, and noses. She told me that friends, relatives, her husband and herself saved these. Each time she designed a new Santa, she walked around that garage and looked at each picture until she found the one that gave her the inspiration and idea she needed.
At night, she "relaxed" in front of the TV with her husband and kneaded and formed her Santa heads and faces. At the time, I did not know one clay from another, and had no idea in the future I would be attempting to sculp with clay.
So do your homework and start your collection of faces. Be sure and not just collect what you are wanting to do today - you never know what might be in your future.
One other thing, this lady had standing orders from collectors for the next Christmas Santa. Plan on this being you in the near future.

Don't forget to study the hair. It can be as important to your figure as the facial features.
